Mission

The goal of the Personnel & Insurance Department is to provide a full range of effective and supportive services to employees, supervisors, department heads, and elected officials in Elkhart County Government in order that that they meet the needs of the citizenry. Their services take into account the many legal regulations and guidelines as well as the human element in responding to a wide variety of human resource needs through the County system.

Elkhart County government provides a wide range of services to the community. Our employees take great pride in their work and feel a sense of fulfillment at being part of providing service to others. Government service at the local level provides an opportunity for employees and taxpayers alike to see results. Services provided range from public health issues such as restaurant food service inspections, birth/death records, health care education and services to the "at risk" population - to law enforcement, the emergency 911 Center, work release and jail security services. Taxpayers often see their dollars at work through public services such as planning, zoning and road/ street maintenance. In addition, there are many administrative services and functions going on daily, including activity in the courts, clerk's office, treasurer, recorder and much more.
